The final course of my undergraduate career in Communications required all students to participate in a Community Service-Learning project which included a class presentation. Consequently, two of my classmates, Alana Harris, Penelope Henriquez, and I chose to work on behalf of undocumented immigrants.
I'm grateful that we quickly became friends, were able to construct solutions from multifaceted complexities, and were able to promote free legal assistance to the downtrodden. The friendship between Penelope, Alana, and I deepened on the day we engaged with residents in North Miami, for my Dad took us out to eat approximately two hours before we partook in that mission with our Service-Learning partner and a volunteer. *** Pictured from left to right: Me, Penelope Henriquez, Julio Calderon (our Community Service-Learning Partner from the Florida Immigrant Coalition), Samuel Triana, and Alana Harris. My Dad (William Nicholas) is not in the photo but he helped us in our mission. This photo was captured on July 19th, 2018.
